Pattern Analysis – Strategic Routing With Order Pattern Analysis

Route4Me’s Strategic Pattern Analysis helps enterprise businesses transform historical order data into optimized, repeatable delivery schedules. By analyzing past order activity, our software automatically identifies delivery frequencies, visitation patterns, and demand cycles. With a single click, you can create data-driven strategic optimizations that improve long-term planning, reduce operational guesswork, and align routes with real-world demand patterns across recurring deliveries and service intervals.

Create Optimizations With Smart Pattern Analysis

To use pattern analysis, select “Strategic Routing” > “Plan New Scenarios” from the Navigation Menu Then, click the “Pattern Analysis” tab and upload a historical order data spreadsheet for pattern recognition and location mapping.

For your convenience, the file size limit for pattern analysis is increased compared to regular strategic routing uploads. This accommodates large order datasets with hundreds of thousands of data entries when creating strategic optimizations.

Create Strategic Optimizations

Route4Me will automatically match the data from your order history spreadsheet to internal variables for strategic optimization. Unrecognized columns can be used as Custom Data or mapped manually. Click the Down Arrow in a column header to select a variable if a column wasn’t automatically validated. When done, click “Continue“.

NOTE: The “Order Timestamp” and “Address” columns are mandatory for pattern analysis.

In the next step, our intelligent strategic optimization engine will analyze your order data to identify delivery frequencies, map visitation patterns, and create optimal strategic schedules for locations. Larger datasets may take longer to process.

Order Pattern Analysis Results Overview And Data

Once analysis is complete, you’ll see a structured overview of the identified delivery patterns and optimized location schedules. The system assigns each location a recommended service frequency and schedule based on past order trends.

You can review the data in the results table, download it for external analysis by clicking “Download Results“, or visualize it using the “Show Dashboard View” button. To proceed with creating strategic optimizations, click “Continue“.

The dashboard view provides a visual breakdown of order patterns, customer segmentation, and delivery frequency distribution. These insights can help you identify high-frequency customers, irregular ordering patterns, and opportunities for schedule standardization. To go back to the pattern analysis results table, click “Show Original View“.

In addition to high-level summaries, Route4Me provides detailed analytics such as order volume by weekday, hourly demand distribution, and risk indicators. These insights highlight peak delivery periods, demand fluctuations, and customers with inconsistent ordering patterns. By incorporating this data into your planning process, you can refine schedules, balance workloads, and proactively address operational risks before generating final strategic optimizations.

When you’re ready to proceed to the next step of creating strategic optimizations, click “Run Optimization“.

Select Strategic Routing Start Locations

After pattern analysis is done, you can input a name for your Strategic Optimization in the “Optimization Name” field. Then, select route start locations with the “Add Facilities” button.

The selected Facilities will be used as route origins when the system optimizes your strategic routes. You can also click the “Add Address” button to manually input route start addresses instead of selecting from your Facilities. Click “Continue” when done.

Configure Strategic Scenarios And Optimization Settings

Once you’ve imported your data and set your departure addresses, you can configure scenario settings. The “Configuration” window will automatically open with the “Wizard” tab selected and is divided into the following main sections:

1. Strategic Scenarios List: The scenarios included in the Strategic Optimization. You can select scenarios, add or remove scenarios, and export and import scenarios as JSON code.
2. Scenario Settings: Scheduling and optimization settings for the selected scenario.

Each scenario represents a distinct collection of settings. When you’re done setting up scenarios, click “Create“.

The software will automatically use your order and location data and strategic optimization scenario settings to create the most optimal recurring routes according to your preferences.

Open And Manage Strategic Optimizations

Your new Strategic Optimization will automatically open with the “AI Summary” tab selected. You’ll see an automatically generated high-level KPI overview and performance report.

From an open Strategic Optimization, you can review its AI Summary, check routing trends, manage optimization scenarios and locations, etc. Learn more about Strategic Optimization Management.
