Route4Me’s Telematics Integration with Vehicle Tracking Solutions
Route4Me’s partnership with Vehicle Tracking Solutions provides integrated route optimization planning, dispatch, and vehicle tracking.
Establishing the VTS Silent Passenger Connection
To establish a telematics connection, first, log into your Route4Me account. On the menu to the left, click “Settings” → “Telematics Gateway”.
Click “Add Telematics Connection”.
Type in a name for your connection (it can be anything, such as a company name).
Select “VTS Silent Passenger” in the “Telematics Vendors” drop-down menu.
Next, type in your VTS Silent Passenger API key.
Finally, click the authorization checkbox at the bottom of the window.
Click “Save” when you’re done.
Viewing Your VTS Silent Passenger Vehicles in Route4Me
After connecting to your VTS Silent Passenger account, the status of your connection will be displayed on the Telematics Gateway page.
Your vehicles are automatically imported and re-synchronized into the account of the corresponding Route4Me user. To access your vehicles list, go to “Team” → “Vehicles”.
All imported vehicle data will be available in this section.
By default, new vehicles are automatically reconciled every minute. You can link a vehicle to a route in two ways: during the route planning process or after the route has been planned.
To link the vehicle to a route during the route planning process, click the “User” tab, then select the appropriate vehicle in the “Assign Vehicle” drop-down list.
To link the vehicle to a planned route, click “Assign Vehicle” in the Routes List.
When tracking data is captured from VTS Silent Passenger, then data sent to Route4Me is evaluated to determine which vehicle (by ID) is associated with this connected vehicle ID. The last-known active route for the corresponding Route4Me vehicle ID is identified, and tracking data is appended into this route’s tracking history.
Data streaming in from VTS Silent Passenger automatically gets associated with that vehicle ID. You will be able to track vehicle activity in the Route Editor or in the Routes Map section. To bring up your vehicle location and tracking history on the map, click “Tracking” → hover your mouse cursor over “Route” → select the timeframe for which you want to show tracking history.
NOTE: It may take up to 60 seconds for your vehicles to show up on the route map.
