Manage Routes and Stops – iPhone Route Planner App
Route4Me’s iPhone Route Planner app provides efficient continuity throughout the entire process of planning, optimizing, navigating, and completing multi-stop routes. In this guide, you can learn how to manage your planned and optimized routes. Specifically, how to re-optimize routes, adjust route settings, add and remove stops, reschedule routes, change stops sequence, assign users to routes, and more.

Routes Visibility – My Routes, All Routes, and Route Drafts
To open your Routes List, go to “Routes” from the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen. In your Routes List, you can access 3 types of routes: My Routes, All Routes, and Drafts. Equally important, depending on your subscription or user type, you can have different route access and route management permissions.

Drafts | Your Draft Routes. When you start planning a route, add addresses, adjust settings, etc., and don’t finish optimizing the route, the app automatically saves this route as a draft. To switch to your Draft Routes, tap on “Routes” at the top of the Routes List and then select “Drafts“. Accordingly, to switch back to your planned routes, tap on “Routes” at the top of the Routes List and then select “Synced“. |
Assign Users to Routes – Dispatch Routes to Drivers
You can easily dispatch routes to other team members by assigning users to routes. In detail, when a user is assigned to a route, this route becomes available on the user’s account with a specific access type. To assign a user to a route from the Routes List, tap on the menu icon next to the preferred route and then tap “Assign User“. Next, select the preferred available user from the list.
To assign a user to an opened route, tap on the three dots menu icon in the top right corner of the screen. Next, select “Assign User” from the menu and then select the preferred user. Additionally, learn more about Route4Me’s User Type Hierarchy and Permissions and assigning users to routes.
Share, Duplicate, and Export Routes
You can share routes via email, duplicate routes, and download routes. To do so from your Routes List, tap on the menu icon next to a route and then select Share Route, Duplicate Route, or Export Route.
On the “Stops” screen of an opened route, tap on “Edit Route” and then tap on the three dots menu icon in the top right corner of the screen. Next, select Share Route, Duplicate Route, or Export Route.

Share Route | After selecting the “Share Route“ option, select the preferred method for choosing or entering the recipient’s email. Once you share the route, the recipient will receive a public link to the route that allows them to see the route but doesn’t allow them to edit the route. |
Duplicate Route | After selecting the “Duplicate Route” option, the app will create an identical copy of the route with the exact same route addresses, sequence, details, etc. Equally important, the duplicated route will not inherit any of the progress of the original route. |
Export Route | After selecting the “Export Route” option, select the preferred method for sharing the CSV file of the route. For example, you can easily export routes to Google Drive, iCloud Drive, internal storage, Slack, Gmail, Dropbox, and more. |
Delete Routes – Permanently Remove Planned Routes
NOTE: When you delete a route, this action can’t be undone. Equally important, when you delete a route assigned to another user, this route is permanently deleted from their account. To delete a route in the Routes List, slide to the left on the route and then tap on the “Delete” button.
To delete an opened route, tap on the “Edit Route” button. Next, tap on the three dots menu icon in the top right corner of the screen and then select “Delete Route” from the menu.
Reschedule Routes – Change Route Start Time and Date
You can easily edit, reschedule, re-optimize, and change the settings of your routes.
To do so, open the preferred route and then tap on the “Edit Route” button. Next, tap on the three dots menu icon in the top right corner of the screen and then select “Route Settings“.
Accordingly, to reschedule the route, tap on the “Route Schedule” button. Next, set the preferred route start time and date and tap “OK“. After that, tap on the “Stops” button to return to the route and then tap on the “Done” button to apply the changes.
Re-Optimize Routes – Adjust Route Optimization Settings
To update or re-optimize the route, select the preferred Optimization Type, Optimize Route Directions For, and Travel Mode. Next, tap on the “Stops” button to return to the route. To re-optimize the route, tap on the “Re-Optimize” button. Accordingly, the app will automatically sequence route stops based on the new optimization settings.
To update the route, tap on the “Done” button. Accordingly, the app will apply the new settings without resequencing route stops. For example, you can change the route to roundtrip without changing the sequence of all route stops.

Re-Optimize Route vs Update Route Settings
When you re-optimize a route, Route4Me applies the specified route settings and automatically resequences all stops on the route for the most optimal visitation order. For example, you can re-optimize a route after adding stops, removing stops, applying a new optimization type, etc. To re-optimize the route, tap on the “Re-Optimize” button.
When you update route settings, Route4Me applies the specified route settings and doesn’t change the current stops sequence. For example, you can update a route after changing its scheduled start time, changing the route to roundtrip, adding new addresses to the end of the route, etc. To update route settings, tap on the “Done” button.
Change Stops Sequence – Resequence Route Stops
To manually change the sequence of stops on a route, tap on the “Edit Route” button. Next, drag and drop stops to the preferred sequence position on the route. After resequencing your route stops, tap on the “Done” button. After that, Route4Me will provide the most optimal driving directions for the new stops sequence.
NOTE: If you tap on the “Re-Optimize” button after manually changing the sequence of stops on the route, the app will automatically re-optimize and resequence all stops for the shortest travel time and distance.
Add Stops – Insert Addresses into a Planned Route
To insert addresses and stops into a planned and optimized route, tap on the “Edit Route” button and then tap on the “Enter Address” field. Next, select the preferred method for adding or importing addresses.
Specifically, you can enter addresses with autocomplete and geocoding, import addresses from your device, Google Drive, Dropbox, and other cloud services, use the OCR address scanner, use address dictation, and more. Additionally, you can learn more about all available methods for adding and importing addresses into routes.
When adding an address, you can add additional details to this address. Specifically, you can add the second address (apartment or building), alias, phone number, stop type, and service time. After adding one or multiple stops, the app will automatically add these stops to the end of the route.
Accordingly, if you want to keep new addresses at the end of the route, tap on the “Done” button. Alternatively, tap on the “Re-Optimize” button, and the app will automatically resequence all stops on the route to create the most optimal visitation order, including the newly added stop addresses.
Search for Stops by Address, Customer, and Order Details
For your convenience, you can easily search for stops on multi-stop routes by various attributes. To do so, tap on the three dots menu icon in the top right corner of the opened route and then select “Search in Route” from the menu. Next, start entering the attributes of the stop you want to find into the respective field.
In detail, you can search for route stops by address, stop alias, customer details, order details, and more. As you enter stop attributes, the app will provide all matching results.
Stop Info – Address, Customer and Order Details, ETAs, Etc.
To open the details of a route stop, tap on the information icon next to the preferred stop. The Stop Info screen shows the stop’s address, alias, stop type, attached notes with POD, customer details, order details, ETAs, attached Custom Data, and more. To close the Stop Info screen and return to the route, tap on the cancel icon in the top left corner of the screen.
Edit Stops – Check and Update Route Stop Information
To edit a stop, tap on the “Edit Route” button. Next, tap on the three dots menu icon next to the preferred stop and then select “Edit Stop” from the menu. After that, you can update such stop details as address, alias, phone number, stop type, and service time. After making the preferred updates, tap on the “Done” button to save and apply the changes.
NOTE: If you update the stop’s address, you can re-optimize the route. Accordingly, Route4Me will automatically resequence the route and place the stop with the updated address at the most optimal sequence position.
Delete Stops – Remove Stops from Routes
To delete a stop from a route, tap on the “Edit Route” button. Next, tap on the three dots menu icon next to the stop and then select “Delete Stop” from the menu. Equally important, deleting stops can’t be undone.
Next, after deleting one or multiple stops, you can keep the same stops sequence or resequence the route. Tap on the “Done” button to remove stops without changing the route’s stops sequence. Tap on the “Re-Optimize” button to remove stops and automatically resequence the route for the most optimal travel distance and time.
