Geofence Detected as Visited and Departed Timestamps
When out in the field, your drivers and field employees have to manually mark your customers’ addresses as “Marked as Visited” and “Marked as Departed” when they arrive at the customers’ locations, service them, and then depart off to the next destination. For an additional layer of security and safety, Route4Me allows you to use geofences that can automatically detect your field employees and drivers arriving at or departing from customers’ locations and generate the “Detected as Visited” and “Detected as Departed” timestamps that cannot be altered. Moreover, to accommodate your specific operational needs and ensure that you are always on the same page with all your customers, Route4Me also provides multiple settings for creating custom shaped and sized geofences (learn how). Thus, by setting up custom geofences around your customers’ locations you can automate the process of tracking the progress of your entire team and make sure that your team members don’t deviate from their planned routes.
To view the geofence detected visitation and departure timestamps of the stops on a particular route, first, open this route in the Route Editor from your Routes List or from your Routes Map.
Next, click on the route stop that you want to check to open its menu and then locate the “Address Visit Details” section that displays the automatically detected and manually marked visitation and departure times. To learn more about the difference between the automatically detected and manually marked visitation and departure timestamps, visit this page.
For more convenience and visualization purposes, you can enable geofences and geofence activities on the interactive map. To display geofences and geofence activities on your map, check the corresponding boxes in the Map Settings (learn more). Geofence Activities show the points on the map where the geofence set around a particular route stop was entered (green flag icon) and departed (red flag icon) by a driver or field employee.
Next, you can also enable user tracking so that you can track the movement of your team members on the map in near real-time. To do so, first, go to “Tracking” in the top right corner of the map, select “Routes” and then select the preferred tracking time interval from the list. Once enabled, you can view your team members moving on the map in real-time.
The “Detected as Visited” timestamp is created whenever a driver or field employee enters the geofence set around the corresponding route stop. When the driver enters the given geofence, the GPS signal from the driver’s Route4Me iOS or Android mobile app or the installed third-party GPS device from a particular telematics vendor is sent to Route4Me for evaluation. Once the signal is received and validated, Route4Me automatically generates the “Detected as Visited” timestamp that cannot be modified. With Route4Me’s iOS and Android mobile apps, the entire process of generating, sending and receiving the GPS signal, validating it and generating the corresponding timestamp happens in near real-time and takes around one second.
The “Detected as Departed” timestamp is created whenever a driver or field employee leaves the perimeter of the geofence set around the corresponding route stop. NOTE: Depending on the custom-defined Vehicle Position Refresh Rate, the position of the green and red flag icons may change within geofences (learn more). This may also happen depending on the frequency at which your particular telematics vendor sends signals to Route4Me.
