Destinations Visited Out Of Route Sequence – Overview
As drivers navigate routes with Route4Me’s iPhone and Android Route Planner Apps, they will arrive at customer locations. Your field employees mark destinations as “Arrived” when executing routes and arriving at addresses. When destinations are visited out of the sequence of their corresponding route, they are marked in red. Additionally, you can view Out of Sequence Destinations on the Routes List, Route Editor, Routes Map, and Mobile Route Planner App. NOTE: To enable Destinations Visited Out of Sequence on your account, contact Route4Me Support.
By default, Out of Sequence Destinations are displayed on the Route Editor and Routes Map map view. In addition, you can enable the “Out Of Sequence Destinations” column alongside other route data. Such destinations disrupt the sequence and optimization of your routes. For your convenience, Route4Me enables you to adjust destination position in the sequence and re-optimize all route destinations or only remaining, unvisited destinations. Specifically, automatically move the visited Out of Sequence Destinations after the last destination visited according to the route’s planned sequence.
Route Editor Destinations Visited Out Of Route Sequence
To view destinations visited out of sequence on individual routes, go to “Routes” and then “Routes” from the Navigation Menu. On the Routes List, click the open icon to open a specific route in the Route Editor.
Destinations visited out of sequence are marked in red on the Route Editor map. Hover over Out of Sequence Destinations to view additional details, such as the planned and actual visit sequence number under “Destination Sequence Number“.
Additionally, to ensure optimal execution of your routes, re-optimize the remaining destinations. To do so, go to “Route” from the top menu bar and select “Re-Optimize Remaining Destinations“. Route4Me will change the sequence number of Out of Sequence Destinations to their actual visitation number and optimize directions for all remaining, unvisited destinations. This ensures the route can be completed successfully and all destinations can be reached in the optimal sequence after one or more destinations have been visited out of the planned sequence.
Alternatively, you may want to adjust the address sequence of routes with Out of Sequence Destinations manually to ensure compliance. To do so, click and drag an unvisited destination on the left to the preferred sequence position.
Moreover, the Route Editor Activity Feed enables you to view the event history of a route. Specifically, you can see route and destination updates from assigned members in near real-time. This includes entries for Destinations Visited Out of Sequence. Click the Open Activity Stream Icon on the right to open the Activity Stream panel. Then, click the Activity Feed tab. Route and destination updates are displayed in order from most recent to oldest.
Routes Map Destinations Visited Out Of Route Sequence
Furthermore, the Routes Map enables you to view multiple routes with destinations visited out of sequence simultaneously. To do so, go to “Routes” and then “Routes” from the Navigation Menu. Select the routes to open by checking the boxes next to them. Then, click “View” from the top menu bar and select “View on Multiple Routes Map“.
The Routes Map enables you to view Destinations Out of Sequence for each selected route on the customizable route data table. To do so, click “View” from the top menu bar, hover over “Customize Columns” and select “Out of Sequence Destinations“. Additionally, learn more about Route4Me’s interactive Routes Map.
Destinations visited out of sequence are marked in red on the Routes Map Interactive Map and Time Line. Hover over them to view additional details, such as the planned and actual visit sequence number under “Destination Sequence Number“.

To do so, go to “Routes” from the top menu bar and select “Re-Optimize Remaining Destinations“. The reliable route software will change the sequence number of Out of Sequence Destinations to their actual number and optimize directions for all remaining, unvisited destinations on all selected routes. This ensures routes can be completed successfully and all destinations can be reached in the optimal sequence after one or more destinations have been visited out of the planned sequence.
Alternatively, you may want to adjust the address sequence of routes with Out of Sequence Destinations manually to ensure compliance. To do so, click and drag a preferred destination on the Time Line to your preferred sequence position on the same route. Also, the Routes Map enables you to move destinations between routes by dragging them to the preferred position.
Routes List With Destinations Visited Out Of Sequence
To get an overview of your routes and Out of Sequence Destinations, go to “Routes” and “Routes” from the Navigation Menu. Then, to enable Out of Sequence Destinations, click the Display Columns icon and enable the “Out of Sequence Destinations” option in the “Destinations” section. Additionally, re-arrange columns by dragging them to the preferred position.

Mobile Apps Destinations Visited Out Of Route Sequence
Destinations are considered out of sequence when a field employee marks addresses as “Arrived” outside the respective route sequence. When destinations are visited out of order, this is also visible on the Route4Me Mobile Route Planner App. To visit a destination out of sequence, a driver selects and marks a destination as “Arrived” on the mobile app. Out of Sequence Destinations are also marked in red on the mobile app.
