Manage and Edit Routes and Stops – Android Route Planner
Route4Me’s Android Route Planner app provides seamless continuity throughout the entire process of planning and sequencing routes, and navigating and completing multi-stop routes. In this guide, you can learn how to manage and edit your routes.
Specifically, how to access, edit and re-optimize routes, adjust route settings, add and remove stops, reschedule routes, change stops sequence, assign users to routes, and more. Additionally, learn how to manage and edit routes and route stops using Route4Me’s iPhone Route Planner app.

Routes Visibility – My Routes, All Routes, and Route Drafts
To open routes, go to “Routes” in the app’s navigation menu. In your Route4Me Routes List, you can access 3 types of routes: My Routes, All Routes, and Drafts. Equally important, depending on your subscription and user type, you may have access to a single or multiple Routes List types. Drafts | Your Draft Routes. When you start planning a route, add addresses, adjust settings, etc., and don’t finish optimizing the route, the app automatically saves this route as a draft. |
Assign Users to Routes – Dispatch Routes to Drivers
You can easily dispatch routes to drivers and other team members by assigning users to routes. Specifically, when a user is assigned to a route, this route becomes available on the user’s account with the respective route permissions.
To assign a user to a route from the Routes List, tap on the user icon next to the preferred route and then select the user from the list. Additionally, learn more about Route4Me’s User Type Hierarchy and Permissions and assigning users to routes.
Share, Duplicate, and Export Routes on Route Planner App
You can share routes via email, duplicate routes, and download routes. To do so, go to your Routes List, tap on the preferred route, and then select “Export Route” or “Duplicate Route” from the menu. To share a route, open the preferred route, tap on the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner, and then select “Share Route” from the menu.

Share Route | After selecting the “Share Route“ option, enter the email where you want to send the route. Once you share the route, the recipient will receive a public link to the route that allows them to see the route but doesn’t allow them to edit the route. |
Duplicate Route | After selecting the “Duplicate Route” option, the app will create an identical copy of the route with the exact same route addresses, sequence, details, settings, etc. Equally important, the duplicated route will not inherit any of the progress of the original route. |
Export Route | After selecting the “Export Route” option, the route will be automatically exported to your device. |
Delete Routes – Permanently Remove Planned Routes
To delete a route, tap on the preferred route in your Routes List and then select “Delete” from the menu. NOTE: When you delete a route, this action can’t be undone. Equally important, when you delete a route that has an assigned user, this route is permanently deleted from the user’s account.
Reschedule Routes – Change Route Start Time and Date
To reschedule a route, go to “Routes” from the navigation menu and tap on the preferred route. Next, select “Change Start Time” from the menu and then reschedule the route for the preferred date and time.
To reschedule an opened route, tap on the gear icon in the top right corner. Next, tap on “Route Schedule” and then reschedule the route for the preferred date and time. After that, tap on the back icon in the top left corner to apply the changes.
Re-Optimize Routes – Adjust Route Optimization Settings
To update or re-optimize an opened route, tap on the gear icon in the top right corner. Next, select the preferred Optimization Type, Optimize Route Directions For, Avoid Roads, and Travel Mode settings. After that, tap on the back icon in the top left corner to return to the route and apply the changes.

Re-Optimize Route vs Update Route Settings
When you re-optimize a route, Route4Me applies the specified route settings and automatically resequences all stops on the route for the most optimal visitation order. For example, you can re-optimize a route after adding stops, removing stops, applying a new optimization type, etc. To re-optimize the route, tap on the “Replan Route” button.
When you update route settings, Route4Me applies the specified route settings and doesn’t change the current stops sequence. For example, you can update a route after rescheduling the route, changing route start and end, adding new addresses, manually rearranging stops, etc. To update route settings, apply the preferred changes and don’t re-optimize the route.
Change Stops Sequence – Resequence Route Stops and Addresses
To manually change the sequence of stops on a route, tap on the edit icon at the top of the route. Next, drag and drop stops to the preferred sequence position on the route. After resequencing route stops, tap on the edit icon at the top of the route again. After that, Route4Me will automatically provide the most optimal driving directions for the new stops sequence.
NOTE: If you tap on the “Replan Route” button after manually changing the sequence of stops on the route, the app will automatically re-optimize and resequence all stops for the shortest travel time and distance.
Add Stops – Insert Addresses into a Planned Route
To insert addresses and stops into a planned route, tap on the plus icon at the top of the opened route. Next, select the preferred method for adding or importing addresses. Specifically, you can enter addresses with autocomplete, import addresses from your device, Google Drive, Dropbox, and other cloud services, use the OCR address scanner or voice, etc. Additionally, learn more about all available methods for adding and importing addresses into routes.
After adding addresses, the app will automatically add them as stops at the end of the route. Accordingly, if you want to keep new addresses at the end of the route, don’t re-optimize the route. Alternatively, tap on the “Replan Route” button, and the app will automatically resequence all stops on the route to create the most optimal visitation order.
Stop Info – Address, Customer and Order Details, ETAs, Etc.
To open the details of a route stop, tap on the preferred stop and then select “Stop Info” from the menu. The Stop Info screen shows the stop’s address, alias, stop type, customer details, order details, ETAs, attached Custom Data, and more. To close the Stop Info screen, tap on the back icon in the top left corner and return to the route.
Additionally, you can open stop information from the route map. First, tap on the map icon to open the route on the map. Next, tap on the preferred route stop on the map and then tap the “Stop Info” button. Accordingly, the Stop Info screen shows the same data, such as the address, alias, stop type, customer details, order details, ETAs, attached Custom Data, etc.
Edit Stops – Update Route Stop Address and Information
To edit a stop, tap on the preferred stop and then select “Edit” from the menu. Next, you can update such stop details as address, alias, and phone number. After making the preferred updates, tap on the “Edit Address” button to save and apply the changes.
NOTE: If you update the stop’s address, the app will automatically update the directions to this stop. Additionally, you can re-optimize the route and Route4Me will automatically resequence the route and place the stop with the updated address at the most optimal sequence position.
Delete Stops – Remove Stops and Addresses from Routes
To delete a stop from a route, tap on the preferred stop and then select “Delete” from the menu. Equally important, deleting stops can’t be undone. Alternatively, tap on the edit icon at the top of the opened route and then remove one or multiple stops by tapping the delete icon next to them.
Next, after deleting one or multiple stops, the app will remove the deleted stops and keep the same stops sequence. Additionally, you can reoptimize the route by tapping on the “Replan Route” button and automatically resequence all route stops.
