Setting Priority to Stops on a Route
Route4Me provides different methods of adding addresses to routes for your convenience and different types of optimizations of your routes for delivering the most efficient results. When optimizing a route, Route4Me computes the shortest distance and most efficient sequence of stops based on the provided list of addresses and predefined variables and constraints. If you want to set up a custom sequence of stops or addresses that need to be visited in a specific order, you can manually predefine priority of each stop. This feature allows you to prioritize addresses to make your route planning process more flexible and customizable. To set up a custom sequence of addresses on a route, the corresponding “Priority” column should be added to the spreadsheet before uploading it to the Route Editor.
To plan a route with a custom sequence of stops, first, select “Plan New Route” from the navigation menu.
Select “Upload a File” when prompted. See how to add the “Priority” column to a file with addresses and upload it to the Route4Me Website further in this article. Learn more about different methods of adding addresses here.
Fill out the route’s information respectively, as you normally would when planning a route.
Go to the “Optimization” tab;
Select “Multiple Driver Route” and define optimization’s constraints. Note that “Maximum Route Duration” field should be filled respectively for the optimization to take effect. Click “Create Route and Proceed to Add Addresses.”
Upload the file that contains the “Priority” column. To upload the file, drag it to the “Browse File to Upload” field or click on the corresponding field and select the file from your device. You can learn more about filling out and uploading spreadsheets here.
The file with the “Priority” column should contain values that can range from 1 (highest priority) to 255 (lowest priority).
The sample file with the “Priority” column is provided below:
After uploading the spreadsheet, the “Priority” column should be verified and displayed accordingly.
After Route4Me’s Geocoder has validated all addresses from the uploaded spreadsheet, click “Finish Import.”
Once the route is planned, in the Route Editor, click on any stop to open its menu. In the “Order” section, the priority of the stop is displayed in the corresponding field. The values can range from 1 (highest priority) to 255 (lowest priority).
