The Route4Me Route Planner apps have a barcode scanning feature that can scan multiple types of barcodes in just a couple of milliseconds. Moreover, the Barcode Scanner is built into the Route4Me Android Route Planner and iOS Route Planner apps. Thus, it eliminates the need for extra barcode scanner apps and hardware.
How the Barcode Scanner Works
You can typically create barcodes with the help of barcode software. This technology enables you to encode text or numeric data in a one-dimensional or two-dimensional barcode format. The amount of data you can store in a barcode depends on the barcode type. Sometimes, barcodes might contain information such as a product serial number (SKU), a tracking number, or even address data.
With Route4Me, the actual data contained in the barcode does not affect your ability to scan and import that barcode data. Moreover, you can use the extracted barcode data as custom text information for tracking, scanning, or reconciliation purposes. For example, when you scan one or more barcodes, the system automatically captures data contained by the barcode image. Then, the system adds it as a separate custom field(s) and associates it with the stop on the route where the scan occurred. The scanned data then becomes searchable.

Scan Addresses With Route4Me’s OCR Scanner
The OCR Scanner is a built-in feature available on Route4Me’s Android Route Planner and iOS Route Planner apps. The scanner acts as a cam scanner or document scanner app. Namely, it transforms any piece of alphanumeric code from printed documents or shipping labels into digital text that can be used for various routing purposes.
Moreover, Route4Me’s OCR Scanner is able to scan text in any font from any surface. You can even scan handwritten addresses with our route planner apps!
The OCR Scanner is designed to help you plan routes with addresses from printed documents or e-ink labels. Thus, you can reduce considerable amounts of time and the risk for human error when copying addresses.
