Lock Last Destination Route Optimization – Android Route Planner
Route4Me’s Android Route Planner is designed to make your routing operations and transactions as fast and flexible as possible, allowing you to plan, optimize, and navigate routes of any complexity on the go. To provide you with all the necessary tools for planning and optimizing routes that can accommodate your particular business and routing needs, Route4Me’s Android Route Planner provides multiple route optimization types. The Lock Last Destination optimization type allows you to optimize routes that can start and end at any destination you need, while the addresses within the route are automatically optimized for the most cost-effective and efficient stops sequence. Moreover, Route4Me’s Android Route Planner will plan your Lock Last Destination routes with the most optimal turn-by-turn driving and navigation directions so that you can effortlessly complete all your routes and visit every customer on time.

To plan a new route with the Lock Last Destination optimization type, first, go to “My Routes” from the navigation menu and then tap on the “Add Route” button at the bottom of the screen. Next, select the “Lock Last Destination” optimization type and then fill out the rest of the route’s settings to your preference (learn more).
After specifying the route’s settings, you need to set up the departure address from which the route will start. To do so, tap on the “Add Destination” button and then add the departure address using the preferred method.
After adding the departure address, you need to add or import the addresses that you want to use for planning and optimizing the new route. To import addresses from your device, Google Drive, or Dropbox in CSV or XLS format, first, go to the “Import” tab and then select the preferred import option accordingly. To learn more about adding addresses manually, visit this page. Once you added the addresses that you want to include into the route, tap on the “Optimize” button to plan and optimize the route.
Once the route is planned and optimized, this route will start from the predefined departure address and end at the locked destination.
When using the Lock Last Destination optimization type, Route4Me’s Android Route Planner starts the optimized route from the predefined departure address, optimizes all imported or added addresses into the most optimal visitation sequence, and ends the route at the last imported or added address that is locked by the optimization.
Comparing Alternative Optimization Types (Lock Last Destination vs. End Anywhere)
The Lock Last Destination optimization type starts the optimized route from the predefined departure address, optimizes all imported or added addresses into the most efficient stops sequence, and ends the route at the locked address (the last imported or added address). Alternatively, the End Anywhere optimization type allows you to optimize routes with the predefined departure address, the most efficient sequence of stops, and the most optimal automatically selected route end destination. To plan a new route with the End Anywhere optimization type, select the End Anywhere optimization when specifying the route’s settings.
Once the End Anywhere route is planned and optimized, this route will start from the predefined departure destination, have the most efficient sequence of stops, and end at the most optimal destination.
When using the Lock Last Destination optimization for planning routes with the predefined end address, you will get different results from the routes optimized using the End Anywhere optimization type that allows Route4Me’s Android app to determine the most optimal end address automatically. Depending on your specific routing requirements, you may need to plan routes with automatically selected route end address or define where your routes should end manually. With Route4Me’s Android Route Planner, you can optimize your routes for the most efficient and cost-effective sequence of stops and manually define the destination at which you want each of your optimized routes to end.
